Opened in 2022 out of clear need in Long Island market
Opening officially in April of 2022. After over a decade of experience in various organizations we felt the need to go on our own. In our Long Island market, the vast majority of outfits are sales driven over integrity and honesty. Far and few between are companies who strive to repair and increase efficiency with most only desiring to sell unnecessary products and systems with high profit margins. As we grow we hope to obtain class C corporate status once sufficient annual revenue is reached and will begin giving majority of shares to both clients and employees guaranteeing this path maintains.
In the meantime we hold an arsenal of commercial and industrial grade equipment. Being the financial and educational barrier this equipment poses to most outfits, we can strive for efficiency ratings on existing equipment rarely hit islandwide. This also allows us to correct issues on new installs by other companies which may not have been done in line with complicated demands from manufacturers. Technology in the HVAC industry has grown substantially in the past decade and keeping up with the service tools and knowledge to use them could be the difference in hundreds of dollars per year in operating costs for our clients.
No matter if it’s a 15,000 sq foot Hamptons estate or a modest low income modular home, the same tools will be used by the same well educated technicians. Everyone deserves respect and being comfortable in your own home is a right we’re here to preserve.
People over profits.
While cliche and overused it’s a clear objective with no room for misinterpretation. Our only goal is to help make clients and employees comfortable. This comfort may come financially or physically but is and always will be our only objective.
As previously stated we opened our doors because doing the right thing in the HVAC industry is so rarely strived for let alone accomplished. I personally have worked at numerous outfits on the island, and interviewed at dozens. Unfortunately our goals did not always align and it is rare to find anywhere where both the clients and employees are treated with respect. We vow to take advantage of no clients and no employees. Our visits will never come with unwarranted sales pitches and all work will be performed to the highest level. Our employees will be taken care of with living wages and reasonable schedules.
Many issues can go unnoticed or ignored by clients and technicians alike. Sometimes this is accidental, sometimes lack of understanding and sometimes it may be laziness. Technology has come along far enough for us to track data on equipment over time and not only anticipate issues but schedule some specialized maintenance and replacement work prior to catastrophic failure. Our clients will be given all of our data points from visits and they can retain for records to their desires. During any of our visits feel free to observe. While troubleshooting can sometimes be confusing for all parties, all visits can be seen as a lesson for clients. Understanding the equipment in your home is a right and anyone who’s interested in that knowledge is entitled to it. A lot of data can sometimes be intimidating but using these points to come up with solutions for odd problems is key.
For our employees putting everyone in a position to succeed is paramount. Our industry is far to varied for any one person to be the best for all situations. Some people will be better with oil burners and some may be more keen to high efficiency equipment. Allowing everyone to flow where they are best suited allows us achieve better outcomes for clients and employees alike. And if our employees are more keen to starting their own company we will help. Our books are open and always will be. With most businesses opened in HVAC failing, the knowledge behind the scenes can easily be the difference between success and failure. Knowing why things are priced and scheduled the way they are can not only be the difference between success and failure, but also help take away some of the stress that comes with entrepreneurship.
All in all, while currently just an LLC, eventually as our growth allows we will begin to transition to a class C corporation. This will allow us to distribute majority of ownership to clients and employees. This may be further down the pipeline but we believe transparency is important. Every maintenance agreement will come along with a piece of the company if desired. Every pay stub will come with a piece of the company. This allows all employees to be an owner and take away the need to start their own operation if they desire higher income potential. And eventually all major decisions will come with everyone’s approval. While profit is necessary to stay in business, the ultimate goal will always be to keep everyone, both clients and employees…comfortable.
Domestic Parts, Whenever Possible
An unfortunate side effect of our economy is the increasing reliance on outsourced parts. Politics aside, purchasing domestic products whenever possible helps everyone. Here at Lighthouse we believe doing our part is only stocking domestic parts for repairs whenever possible. With small items such as wire terminals this can multiply costs as much as ten fold, with bigger items it’s usually a small percentage. When factored in with our modest markups end cost to clients is still typically lower than imported with a much higher lifespan on wear items. While this may hurt our bottom line, and we may not see you in a couple years for the same repair as we would with cheap imported parts, we firmly believe this is the right way to continue doing business.
